Getting Started with Peer Review: A Practical Workshop from JAACAP Journals

About this video

The dearth of high-quality peer review can be attributed to any number of factors including lack of training for reviewers, time constraints, and the often subjective (and occasionally confusing) nature of the review process itself. And yet, voluntary peer review is considered a fundamental necessity for the objective assessment of manuscripts in most academic fields. Having high-quality, unbiased peer review is crucial for ensuring the reliability and credibility of published research.

In this webinar recording, we will cover the basics of peer review, specifically in the context of the JAACAP journal family. We will introduce and equip you with practical skills and knowledge that align with established standards of peer review. We will provide examples of how reviews differ based on the type of journal, type of material, and skill of the reviewer. In the end, this webinar is designed to help lower barriers to entering peer review and help you develop the confidence and basic skills necessary to begin reviewing the literature.
