Integrating gender analysis into postgraduate training on international development

About this video

Prof Camfield explains the intricacies and pitfalls of doing development research which are important to achieve best research for SDGs, avoiding unwarranted abstractions and creating precision where it is needed by for example paying great attention to locally framed issues which can enable more accurate sense making with regard to the key relationships, agency, influences. Research and data must be credible to enable lasting change. Trying to capture all the differences when collecting data may dilute what is most essential to understand how advantage and disadvantage is created and what needs to change. This may need long term and sufficiently broad research approach to identify all significant relationships and what shapes them.
