While most researchers are well versed in understanding intentional breaches in publishing ethics or scientific misconduct, there are common pitfalls that well-intentioned researchers often encounter. This module focuses on how researchers can avoid these unintentional mistakes and, in turn, uphold research integrity and publishing ethics.

Alice Darlington

Publishing Ethics Expert, Elsevier

Alice is a Publishing Ethics Expert in Elsevier's Research Integrity and Publishing Ethics Centre of Expertise. Alice developed a keen interest in Publishing Ethics through her work in scholarly publishing, and is particularly focused on transparent retractions,  authorship disputes, and integrity within the review process. 

Alice recently completed a secondment as Elsevier's Gender Equity Taskforce Manager which shapes Elsevier’s contributions to inclusive research from gender balance in editorial boards to sex and gender analysis in Research. 

Alice advocates for inclusive Publishing Ethics training, and regularly speaks to editorial boards about current best practices.
