How To Enter:

To enter the Promotion, entrants should

(i) follow us on Instagram @Researcheracad

(ii) like and share our Instagram reel announcing this prize draw

(iii) complete a module/topic on Researcher Academy at https://researcheracademy.elsevier.com/;

(iv) share your Researcher Academy Certificate of Completion via an Instagram story, tagging @researcheracad;

(v) complete your registration by submitting required information including your full name, institutional affiliation, and registered email address using the form available at https://forms.office.com/r/AmcFzf8LuW;

(vi) applicants must be currently employed by, enrolled in, or affiliated with an academic institution or corporate, government, or hospital entity.

Limit one (1) entry per person for each respective campaign. Any entrant who attempts to participate using multiple email addresses and/or multiple identities or uses any device or artifice to obtain more than one entry may be disqualified. In the event of a dispute in connection with the identity of the individual who submitted a response, the entry will be deemed to have been submitted by the authorized account holder of the e-mail account identified on the response. The authorized account holder is deemed to be the natural person who is assigned to an e-mail address by an Internet access provider, service provider, or other online organization that is responsible for assigning e-mail addresses for the domain associated with the submitted e-mail address. If an eligible individual cannot be determined and verified in the manner described above, the entry will be disqualified as null and void. Only entries who share the certificate of attendance tagging @researcheracad in accordance with these Official Rules will be eligible for consideration. NO ALTERNATE MEANS OF ENTRY PERMITTED. All entries become the exclusive property of Sponsor and will not be acknowledged or returned.

Eligibility: 

The ELSEVIER/ RESEARCH ACADEMY INSTAGRAM RANDOM DRAW PROMOTION CAMPAIGN 2023 (“Promotion”) is open to all individuals who

(i) are researchers (ECRs & mid-career researchers);

(ii) have attended the age of majority at the time of entry in their respective country of residence;

(iii) complete a module/topic on Researcher Academy and share the certificate of attendance on Instagram

(iv) are doing research in the field of life science only, in any country worldwide (excluding Italy, Brazil, Quebec Canada, Cuba, Iran, Syria, North Korea, Sudan).

Employees of Sponsor and its parents, subsidiaries, affiliated companies and agents, and their immediate families of those living in the same household, are not eligible to enter. Government officials bear the burden of self-determining their eligibility to participate in the promotion and/or receive a prize, based on any restrictions placed on them by applicable laws or institution regulation, examples of government officials, include, but are not limited to the following: local tax authorities, customs officials, ministry of education employees, employees of government owned and operated enterprises, such as schools, libraries and medical facilities, political party officials and candidates for political office, and generally can include an employee or official of (1) a commercial entity in which a government body has an ownership interest or exerts control over such an entity; or (2) public international organizations such as the United Nations of the World Bank, etc.). Nominees may be subject to rules imposed by their institution or employer relative to their participation in trade promotions and should check with their institution or employer for any relevant policies. Promotion Period:  

Entrants may participate in the Promotion from December 6th, 2023 at 14:00 GMT through December 19th, 2023 at 14:00 GMT. (“Promotion Period”). Sponsor's server shall serve as the official clock for this Promotion. Promotion shall be made through the official Researcher Academy Instagram, Researcher Academy website, email blast. 

Evaluation Criteria For Entries:

Entries that satisfy the above screening criteria will be evaluated by the Sponsor, and winners will be selected based on (i) complete filing of the entry form; (ii) participants need to share the certificate of attendance via an Instagram story tagging @researcheracad. The only criteria for selection is as mentioned above to enable random draw by the Panel. The automatic software tool will choose two (2) winners to get an award as mentioned below, the decision of the Panel will be binding on all the participants selected from the participants to receive below mentioned prizes. 

Prizes: 

Two (2) prizes: Researcher Academy/Elsevier B.V will provide funding, in the form of reimbursement, for professional development up to five hundred US dollars ($500 USD) per winner. This funding can be used towards conference participation and/or course registration related to skill development completed before December 30, 2024. The funding can be split across multiple uses if desired but will not exceed the maximum amount of five hundred US dollars ($500 USD) per winner. 

Total approximate retail value of all prizes is approximately USD 1000.00.  

Selection will be made by Sponsor, whose decisions will be final and binding in all respects. All winners are subject to proving eligibility in order to receive prize. 

Winner Notification And Acceptance:

The potential winners will be notified by Elsevier/ Research Academy via https://www.instagram.com/researcheracad/ and via email address: m.eleftheriadou@elsevier.com and email within February 14, 2024. Winners may waive the right to receive the prize. The prizes are non-assignable and non-transferable. Cash will not be awarded in lieu of the prizes as stated above, and the Sponsor reserves the right to substitute any of the prizes for any reason. Each winner shall bear sole responsibility for fulfilling any tax obligations associated with receipt and/or use of prize. Each winner may be asked to execute and return to Sponsor an affidavit of eligibility and a liability release (except where prohibited by law) within fourteen (14) days of attempted notification. Non-compliance within that time period or failure to comply with any term or condition of these Official Rules may, at the sole discretion of Sponsor, result in such winner’s disqualification and the selection of an alternate winner. Return of any prize/prize notification as undeliverable will result in disqualification and an alternate winner will be selected. All decisions of Sponsor are final and binding.   

Right To Use Information Contained In Winning Entries: 

Winners’ first names and country of residence, may be featured on the Promotion Website. The first name of the winner will be made available in the campaign landing page. All entrants will be eligible to request for the winners list by emailing at m.eleftheriadou@elsevier.com. By accepting the prize, each winner acknowledges compliance with these Official Rules and agrees to permit Sponsor to use their first name and country of residence. Rights granted by winners are for advertising, publicity and promotional purposes, are in perpetuity and in any medium Sponsor sees fit, including, but not limited to, website, television, radio, or printed materials. 

Consent to Use of Personal Information: None of the entries submitted by participants will be treated as confidential. As such, entrants should not submit proprietary information. Entrants further agree that personally identifiable information may be processed, stored, and otherwise used for the purposes of the Promotion, including, but not limited to, checking participant's identity, email address, and institutional affiliation, or to otherwise verify eligibility to participate. The personal data submitted through Sponsor’s platform is subject to its privacy policy at http://www.relx.com/site-services/privacy.  

Limitation of Liability/Reservation of Rights: Neither Sponsor, its parent, subsidiary or affiliated companies, nor its advertising or promotional agencies shall have any obligation, liability or responsibility for (1) telephone, electronic, hardware, software, network, Internet, or computer malfunctions, failures, or difficulties of any kind; (2) any condition caused by events beyond the control of Sponsor that may cause the Promotion to be disrupted; (3) any printing or typographical errors in these Official Rules or any other materials associated with the Promotion; (4) entries that contain incorrect or inaccurate information or do not comply with these Official Rules; or (5) entries, prize claims or notifications that are lost, late, incomplete, illegible, unintelligible, damaged or otherwise not received by the intended recipient, in whole or in part. Sponsor, in its sole discretion, reserves the right to disqualify any entry of any person tampering with or abusing the entry process, conduct of the Promotion or otherwise violating these Official Rules. Sponsor further reserves the right to cancel, terminate or modify the Promotion if it cannot be completed as planned because of tampering, unauthorized intervention or technical failures of any sort.  

 

RELEASE: BY ENTERING THE PROMOTION, ENTRANTS RELEASE AND HOLD HARMLESS SPONSOR AND ITS PARENTS, SUBSIDIARIES, AND AFFILIATED COMPANIES, AND EACH OF THEIR DIRECTORS, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, REPRESENTATIVES, VENDORS, PARTNERS AND AGENTS, FROM ANY AND ALL LIABILITY WHATSOEVER, AND WAIVE ANY AND ALL CAUSES OF ACTION, FOR OR RELATED TO ANY CLAIMS, COSTS, INJURIES, LOSSES, LIABILITIES, OR DAMAGES OF ANY KIND (INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, PERSONAL INJURY, DEATH, DAMAGE TO OR DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY, RIGHTS OF PUBLICITY OR PRIVACY, DEFAMATION OR PORTRAYAL IN A FALSE LIGHT) ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH THE PROMOTION OR THE ACCEPTANCE, POSSESSION, OR USE OF THE PRIZE, WHETHER UNDER A THEORY OF CONTRACT, WARRANTY, TORT (INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, NEGLIGENCE, WHETHER ACTIVE, PASSIVE, OR IMPUTED), STRICT LIABILITY, PRODUCT LIABILITY, CONTRIBUTION, OR ANY OTHER THEORY, TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.  

 

Construction: The construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these Official Rules shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Amsterdam, without giving effect to its conflicts of law principles
