10 tips for writing a truly terrible journal article

About this video

As a journal editor, associate editor and editorial board member, Professor Bert Blocken has certainly seen his fair share of good – and not so good - journal submissions.  He knows that the ‘not so good’ manuscripts rarely make it through to the peer review process. To help early career researchers maximize their chances of publication success, he has compiled a unique list of common writing mistakes.

In this light-hearted but helpful webinar recording, Professor Blocken explores why publishing your results is so important before going on to share 10 sure-fire ways you can guarantee your paper won’t be accepted. His list of actions to avoid includes plagiarism, overestimating your contribution and, one of the biggest sins of all, ignoring editor and reviewer comments!

You will develop the ability to identify the common errors researchers make when preparing their manuscript and the practical skills you need to sidestep them.
