Open access and navigating the journal landscape

About this video

Assessing a journal’s quality, integrity and validity isn’t easy, and there are other factors that come into play when that journal is open access. In this webinar recording, you will hear from three Elsevier experts with experience in this area: Els Bosma, in her role as Program Director Open Access; Catriona Fennell, Director of Journal Services; and, Dr. Wim Meester, Head of Product Management, Scopus. They share some practical tips to help early career researchers navigate the journal assessment and decision-making stages.

Wim explains what Elsevier looks for in a journal when it is admitted to Scopus, the online citation and abstract database. Els explores the topic of open access, and what motivates authors to choose that route. And, Catriona talks about publication ethics, and explores challenges specific to open access.

You’ll come away with a clear understanding of the open access options on offer and the questions you should ask when deciding where to submit your research.
